The Map menu contains commands that apply to the Quick Map, Topo Map, Aerial Photo Map, and Scanned Map views in ExpertGPS.
- Select Map Tool
- Select the tool to use on the map.
- Zoom
- Change the scale of the map.
- Show Move Map Window
- Use the Move Map navigation buttons to quickly move around the map.
- Enable Internet Map Image Retrieval
- Allow ExpertGPS to access the Internet to retrieve topo maps and aerial photos.
- Show Map Retrieval Status Window
- Show the number of map images queued for retrieval from the Internet map server.
- Open Scanned Map Library
- Manage your collection of scanned paper maps and digital charts.
- Calibrate Scanned Map
- Calibrate the scanned map by specifying the coordinates of two or three known points on the map.
- Switch to Another Scanned Map
- Close the current scanned map and load a new one in the same window.
- Show Export Image Window
- Save the map to an image file for use in a presentation or to display on your Web site.
- Show Print Map Window
- Select the area of the map to be printed.
- Show Map Display Options Window
- Change the way items are displayed on the map.

- Move Map Tool
- Drag the map to show a nearby location.
- Recenter Map Tool
- Click to recenter the map on a new location.
- Zoom Tool
- Change the scale of the map.
- Select Tool
- Select items on the map.
- Move Selected Tool
- Drag the selected items to a new location.
- Scissors Tool
- Break a route, track, or shape into two pieces.
- Waypoint Tool
- Click to create a new waypoint on the map.
- Route Tool
- Click on waypoints to join them into a route.
- Track Tool
- Draw a tracklog on the map.
- Shape Tool
- Draw a shape on the map.
- Note Tool
- Click to add a note to the map.
- Retrieve Maps Tool
- Drag over an area on the map to retrieve topo maps and aerial photos for that region.
- Delete Maps Tool
- Drag over an area to remove topo maps and aerial photos for that region from your computer.
- Calibration Point 1 Tool
- Click to set the first calibration point on the Scanned Map.
- Calibration Point 2 Tool
- Click to set the second calibration point on the Scanned Map.
- Calibration Point 3 Tool
- Click to set the third calibration point on the Scanned Map.
Zoom

- Zoom In
- Zoom into the map to show more detail.
- Zoom Out
- Zoom out of the map to show more area, at a lower level of detail.
- Zoom to Original Size
- Reset the scale of the map to its original value.
- Zoom to Show All Data
- Zoom out so that al of the data in the file is visible on the map.
- Zoom to Scale
- Zoom to the map scale you enter.
