Place Label Here Command

The Place Label Here command moves the item's map label to a new location. For point items like waypoints and notes, the label is placed at the cursor location. For linear items like routes, tracks, and shapes, the label is placed at the marker. For closed routes, tracks, and shapes, the label is placed at the cursor position.

To move the label of a waypoint or note to a new point on the map, do the following:

  1. View a map.
  2. Select a single waypoint or note.
  3. Then, do one of the following:
    • Right-click on the map at the position where you want the label to appear, and click Place Label Here.
    • Shift-click on the map (so that the item remains selected) at the position where you want the label to appear. On the Tools menu, click Place Label Here.

The waypoint label will be drawn on the map with a line connecting the label to the graphic symbol at actual location of the waypoint.

To reset the position of a waypoint or note label on the map, do the following:

  1. View a map.
  2. Select a single waypoint or note.
  3. Then, do one of the following:
    • Right-click on the selected item, and click Place Label Here.
    • On the Tools menu, click Place Label Here.

The waypoint will be drawn on the map with its label in the default position.

To move a label to a new point along a linear route, track, or shape on the map, do the following:

  1. View a map.
  2. Select a linear route, track, or shape.
  3. Click on the selected item to set the route or track marker at the new label location.
  4. Then, do one of the following:
    • On the Tools menu, click Place Label Here.
    • Right-click on the selected item, and click Place Label Here.

The item will be drawn on the map with the label at the marker location.

To move a track's label to a specific point on an elevation profile, do the following:

  1. View the elevation profile of a linear track or shape.
  2. Click on the elevation profile to set the marker at the new label location.
  3. Then, do one of the following:
    • On the Tools menu, click Place Label Here.
    • Right-click on the elevation profile, and click Place Label Here.

Although the label does not appear on the elevation profile, the label will be drawn on the map at the marker location.

To move the label of a closed route, track, or shape to a new point on the map, do the following:

  1. View a map.
  2. Select a closed route, track, or shape.
  3. Then, do one of the following:
    • Click inside the closed object at the location where you want the label to appear. On the Tools menu, click Place Label Here.
