ExpertGPS can calculate the area of a closed route, track, or shape - very useful for determining acreage of a property, or estimating the size of a timber lot. ExpertGPS switches between acres, square feet, square miles, hectares, square meters, and square kilometers based on the measurement settings you select in Edit/Preferences.
To calculate the area of a closed route, track, or shape, do the following:
- If the route, track, or shape is not a closed object, use the Close command to close it.
- View the Route, Track or Shape List.
- The area will be displayed in the Area column.
- If the Area column is not visible in the list, select it using the Select Columns command.
